Choose a bold and bright color that contrasts with the existing colors in the room.

My home is decorated with neutral colors. I love black, tan, gray, and cream, but every now and then I want a pop of color. You can see how I did just that in this picture. I found this fantastic teal green velvet feather pillow at the thrift store and immediately put it into my cart. I was not going to let this one go. In fact, anytime I see a feather pillow while thrifting I buy it. Even if I don’t like the cover on it, I buy it and then change it out when I get home.

You can also use the pillow cover to complement the existing color scheme of the room.

Maybe you don’t want a pop of color. Perhaps you want to keep it neutral and serene, if so, you can use pillow covers to blend with your current color scheme. The cool thing about pillow covers is they are a fantastic way of adding texture. When you have a neutral color scheme you really need to rely on texture. They are also easy to wash and care for.

I love to decorate with the seasons and this pillow cover is the reason why. It’s so cute. I’m not sure why there is a cherry on there, but the bunny is adorable. Mixing and matching patterns is another way to add visual interest to your home. This large bunny goes well with the creamy, chunky throw blanket. Texture, layers, and color are the TLC of home decor.
